Happy National Cat Day

Cat lovers love their cats every day, but National Cat Day is a time to appreciate and celebrate our furry feline friends.

Claudia Cardinale
If you are ever thinking about getting a cat, please consider getting a rescue cat. Too many cats are put down because there aren't enough furever homes.

Also desexing is super important.

Maureen O'Hara 1920-2015

Yesterday we heard the news that one of Hollywood's finest passed away. Maureen O'Hara was 95 years old.

Just last year, she was presented with an Oscar for 'Lifetime Achievement'. The inscription read - "To Maureen O'Hara, one of Hollywood's brightest stars, whose inspiring performances glowed with passion, warmth and strength".

O'Hara starred in many films but she is most known for her roles in How Green Was My Valley (1941), Miracle On 34th Street (1947), Sitting Pretty (1948), The Quiet Man (1952), The Parent Trap (1961) and McLintock! (1963).

She was born Maureen FitzSimons in Ireland but later changed her name to Maureen O'Hara.

O'Hara had one child, a daughter, Bronwyn. She was born in 1944. Bronwyn's father was American director, William Houston Price.

In 1946, O'Hara became an American citizen. However, she kept her Irish citizenship too.

Over the years, she had wonderful friendships with Hollywood's elite.

A cute story: she was having lunch with Lucille Ball one day when Lucille first met her future husband, Desi Arnaz for the first time.

O'Hara was John Wayne's favourite actress. They were also very close friends. They starred in five films together. She spoke of John Wayne with high esteem, "Speaking as an actress, I wish all actors would be more like Duke (John Wayne)...and speaking as a person, it would be nice if all people could be honest and as genuine as he is. This is a real man".

On the news last night, the reporter claimed that O'Hara was listening to the music from the film, The Quiet Man, when she passed away.

All of the credited cast members of Miracle On 34th Street are now deceased. She was the last living cast member.

Maureen O'Hara was once quoted as saying, "I'm very lucky I really had some wonderful movies".

More Mindfulness Colouring - Emma Farrarons

Like so many other people - I've got the colouring in bug. Actually, I never grew out of it.

I remember when I was a little girl there was a crazy summer thunderstorm. I was absolutely petrified. I didn't know what to do with myself.

I thought I would colour in as a distraction. Of course, I was too young to know about mindfulness but it did help take the edge off my nervousness.

More Mindfulness Colouring is the perfect size for just popping into your bag.

The illustrations are not too intricate which I know some people don't like.

Happy International Coffee Day!

Are you a coffee drinker? Today is the day to celebrate your favourite beverage.

Multitasking Jayne Mansfield. In bed looking at photos, talking on the phone, having a coffee and looking pretty. Skills.

Here are some facts about coffee that you may not have known:

It is believed that in 800 A.D. (circa), shepherds in Ethiopia discovered coffee. They noticed that their goats would seem to 'dance' after eating the coffee berries. A monk then made a drink using the coffee berries and he claimed that the drink kept him awake at night.

Coffee is the second most traded commodity in the world. Oil is the most traded.

Brazil produces around 40% of the world's coffee. Followed a long way down by Columbia and Vietnam.

It is possible to fatally overdose on coffee - you would have to drink approximately 100 cups.

Americans are the biggest coffee consumers in the world, drinking 400 million cups a day.

The most expensive and rarest coffee in the world is called Black Ivory Coffee. It's made from elephant poo. The elephants eat the beans and then the beans are plucked out of the poo. A kilogram of Black Ivory Coffee costs over $1,000.00 (US dollars).

There is a spa resort in Japan where you and your friends can bathe in coffee (just don't drink it!).

Anita Ekberg doesn't look too thrilled that there is no coffee left in the pot.
